Final Project Ideas:

1.  I would like to do a basic web site on the coffee/tea shops that cater to University students (see my recommended site).  I know of three that I have visited and enjoyed so I would want to include only those three.  Perhaps a short story on each of the shops and some photo images of daily activities.

2.  I would also like to do a short story (with photo images) web site on one of my photo walks, particularly the one at Creamer’s Field.  The pictures and signs tell a very interesting story of life (the ecosystem) in that arena.   Actually, I think a day in digital photography which could include several photo walks would be a great web site.

3.  And lastly, I would like to upgrade my Ice Alaska website at http://lbeadie.freehostia.com to include new information about Ice Alaska and the City of North Pole.

HOW DO THEY DO THAT: Web Sites that display creations that I would like to do.

The US Marine Corps site at: http://www.marines.mil/Pages/DefaultPage.aspx and the Marine Corps University site at: http://www.mcu.usmc.mil/mcu/mcu_welcome_packet/index.htm both show either a video connected to a navigation bar or an emblamatic icon emblazoned on its opening page.  The same type of video feeds but from several images displayed on the opening page and then clicked to the youtube video are shown at: http://video.google.com/.  I would like to be able to do both (or all three of those creations) as effectively as those site designers and creators do.

Use of dreamweaver and CSS postings:

1.  Dreamweaver is a fantastic program for disigning and creating websites but it requires a lot of study to do it right, particularly if you want to use CSS layouts and styles.

2.  This is a second posting of the Dreamweaver requirement because I had left this one in draft form and published the second version without removing this one from the posting area.  As a part of this publishing, I will also comment further on “Who’s using CSS for the 10/27 postings.”

3.  I revisited the site, http://www.newgrounds.com, and viewed its CSS layout and styles development through the use of the “Tools” toolbar.   This is a huge site and I observed  that they are using CSS stylesheets throughout and at least one table in the development of its banner.   I did not observe a print style sheet, but the print review does not look significantly different from the visual observation of the site so perhaps there is one.   There is a very interesting comment from the HTML coding author, Bob Rudderow,  further down the pages regarding CSS, i.e., WELCOMING THE FORMER BBS STYLE SHEET TO NGSECTS, CSS.  I am not sure what that means unless there was some other form of style sheets used before using CSS.   Perhaps Chris could enlighten us as to what a comment like that means.
